The Greatest
As I live out my life, more questions are popping out. Basically I'm starting to seek for more and trying to figure out "WHY." Why is life like this? Why do some people have different religions? Why can't there be just one? Why is there war, hunger, pain and corruption? Why do loved ones die unexpectedly? Why do bad things happen to the good people while the wicked people live out their lives in richness? Why do we get heart-broken? Why can't we get what we want? Why am I here? What's the point? The list goes on and on.
I was anxious because of all these questions in my mind. I wanted to give up the journey and just let go. It just doesn't make sense. We've all been in that phase of asking but we can't find the perfect answer.
I claim that God is good and He answers my prayers. I've been praying to God to lead me towards the truth and for Him to reveal Himself to me more and more. I was blessed because He made it clear to me when I heard this story from my friend's dad.
Here's the story…
Here's the story…
"Have you ever been in love? When you're in love, it's all that matters. I don't know the person completely but the feeling of trust and love is present. Because of love, I would want to commit myself to that girl. When we get married then I'll discover her more. Oh I didn't know she snores or she always moves while sleeping. It's a leap of faith because I'm deciding with my heart. As I live my life with her then I'll find out more about her, that's the point of the commitment; till death do us part. I'll make things work out because I love her. We could be married for 60 years and still discover something new about her but it doesn't matter because I love her "
He goes on by saying…
"That's the simplest analogy we can think of with our relationship with God. All you know in the start is that God loves you so He died and sacrificed Himself to have a relationship with you. As you walk with Him in your journey of faith, answers will be revealed one by one in His perfect timing. You'll get to know more about Him and the doubt's become lesser. That's just an analogy with human relationships, it's different with God. What's different from our relationship with Him is that His love is endless and perfect and that our journey doesn't end at death, it lasts until eternity.
It's great how God gives us clues through human relationships. Just like the story of this wise married guy, a relationship with God is a leap of faith fuelled by love. It takes faith to believe in God and in everything that He did but it takes love to commit your life to Him. Without love, your relationship with God won't be possible.
A finite human being like me doesn't possess the mind of an infinite God. I wouldn't know everything about Him. I can't even fathom how God works! Hearing stories from people and from my own experiences, God works mysteriously amazing. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9.
I won't discover the answers to all my questions but one thing is for sure, as I walk with God, spending time in His Word, answers are popping out too. It's as if the more I depend on God and the more I surrender myself to Him, the stronger my mind becomes. I could die not knowing the answers to all my questions but that's the point of faith, it's confidence of what we hope for and assurance of what we do not see. It gives peace in my mind when I do my quiet time in the morning and it gives me strength throughout the day. Quiet time is quality time with God, so it's important for people to give that the highest priority. I discovered that doubts and questions will still be in me but it doesn't matter because I love Him and He loves me and that's all that matters.
"Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13
