The Axe Effect

The enemy was right in front of me and ready to be destroyed. My weapon was heavy, it was a stone axe. I gripped it tightly and aimed at my foe. I lifted it up over my head and with great force I slammed it towards my target. To my surprise, I missed… What happened in that split second was considered a miracle…

As I try to sound mysterious and poetic, I'm gonna share to you guys an experience that made me realize something big. I have a new job now and it involves throwing broken equipments. I throw worn out microwaves, vacuum cleaners, grills, chairs, tables and all kinds of appliances. To fully utilize the space of the garbage bin that we have, I smash the equipments into pieces with a stone axe before I throw them out. I enjoyed doing it because it's a stress reliever. You could pour out emotions to broken microwaves and smack them. That's awesome. I enjoyed doing it until an incident happened.

Last Friday I was about to smash a defective table. So I lifted the stone axe and tried to hit it hard. I didn't hit the huge target in front of me but instead I hit the funny bone in my ankle. I don't know what it's called and I'm not too sure how science explains why I still have my right foot with me or why my ankle is not sprained. Even if it's impossible to cut my own foot or bruise my ankle with an axe, I still considered what happened as a miracle. And at that evening, I thanked God for saving my foot and He revealed to me a verse:

Psalm 91
 9 If you say, "The Lord is my refuge,"
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
It's a big blessing to realize that God is my defender. I may be exaggerating. Maybe I'm too weak that's why I didn't get hurt when the stone axe hit my foot. But still, the incident reminded me that the Lord my God is my protector. I've been in Canada for a year now and I always pray for protection over my family. I praise Him because He is indeed the ultimate protector :)

Continue to offer the day to God and always ask for His protection. No harm will overtake you and He will defend you from all kinds of pain. Believe in Him because God is faithful, He keeps His Word :)
